MJ Bushell, one of Brentwood’s top accountancy firms, has taken home the bronze for the Mid-tier Firm of the Year at the Accounting Excellence Awards 2026.
Of the many firms that competed in the twentieth Accounting Excellence Awards, MJ Bushell demonstrated its ongoing success and commitment to growth with a truly commendable achievement.
Dan Sayers, Director at MJ Bushell, said: “The recognition of the hard work and dedication from our incredible team is greatly appreciated.
“We have worked tirelessly to drive the firm forward by embracing the latest technology and developing a work environment that allows people to flourish.”
MJ Bushell experienced an exciting time of change following a succession during which nearly every client remained working with the firm.
Rather than being held back by the challenge that often comes with change, the firm adopted an ethos of continuous growth as a means to create new opportunities.
“Part of our strategy has been to become a reliable local brand,” Dan said. “We moved to a new office in Brentwood last year and are seeking out new opportunities to sponsor local good causes and get involved in supporting the local area.
“We are excited for the future and getting bronze at the Accounting Excellence Awards is a clear sign that our future is bright.”
The Mid-tier Firm of the Year category of the Accounting Excellence Awards, now in its twentieth year, takes a comprehensive look at the strategy of the firm, considering how it benefits clients as well as those who work there.
Success in the category is dependent on a firm’s capacity to provide exceptional client service while also encouraging its own experts to further develop their careers.
“People in a firm need to feel like they are progressing and have the opportunities to meaningfully do so if you want to provide a quality service to clients,” said Dan. “Clients know when an accountant is phoning it in. They want the dynamic approach that MJ Bushell places at the heart of its culture.
“We’re going for gold next year! Our firm will keep growing and pushing ahead with our plans to become more scalable, more technology-enabled and more resilient, while protecting the culture and service standards that have driven our success to date.”
The winners of the Accounting Excellence Awards were announced on 30 September at the Roundhouse in Camden, London.
